AIRPORT
Budapest’s international airport, the Liszt Ferenc International Airport is situated on the south-easterly edge of the city. The Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport is one of the region’s most sophisticated airports. It should be stressed that any part of the world is accessible by air with a single connecting flight. It offers international connections primarily within Europe, but also to Africa and the Middle East. Further construction works are ongoing, the airport will have an even bigger capacity by 2023.
Airport transfer will be provided for all participants both at arrival and departure with shuttle buses and vans.
RAILWAY STATIONS, BUS STATIONS
There are 3 major railway stations in Budapest (Déli Railway Station, Keleti Railway Station, Nyugati Railway Station), all of them serving international lines. The Déli railway station is within walking distance from the university and its facilities, Keleti- and Nyugati railway stations are situated close to the city centre, within less than 5 km’s from the planned venues of the championship.
Budapest is also easily accessible by international bus lines; several bus stations serve the arrival and departure of visitors, the busiest of them is Népliget International Bus Station.
In case of travelling by train or bus, transportation will be provided from the relevant railway or bus stations, too.
INDIVIDUAL ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES
Budapest is easily accessible by road. In the maps below, we have indicated the most important motorways and distances to the nearest major cities. For those who will arrive by car, free parking places will be provided at the campus of the university.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
Budapest’s public transport network is highly extensive; there are 4 metro lines, tram, trolleybus and bus services. The city’s night time public transport system is also active.
In case Budapest will host the championship, the Organizing Committee will be ready to continue talks with the Centre for Budapest Transport in order to make arrangements for the possibly free use of the public transportation for all participants.
